Allyship can often be layered under intense shame and make you feel inadequate of helping in a movement. This is normal feeling. I know because I’ve felt this way myself. But the world desperately needs to change and it can’t happen without support, without voices. Shame is nothing more than an emotion- it can be powerful and debilitating but more importantly, it can be overcome if we have the room to open the discussion. Talk, learn, understand. Embrace the way you feel, especially if it makes you uncomfortable. Move through it: grow beyond it and continue forward to stand by the people who need us. I’d love to hear from you all about how you are processing this all. Much deserved love and support to the Black Lives Matter movement.
